Viper® is a company that obviously takes great pride in designing and producing the best knives possible. They have embraced the concept of "Maniago Quality" and taking advantage of the latest technologies and design and production genius, push it to the limit. For 2006, they produced a 200 piece Limited Edition Set of two knives in a beautiful wooden box. For both knives, the handle material is Ram's Horn, the liners are Titanium, the Damascus is stainless and the workmanship is superb. Beyond that, the two knives are totally different.

It has been some time since we have offered William Henry's model B12, currently their largest model. Matt Conable and the knifemakers at the William Henry® Studio have created a special small run of only 25 knives with exhibition grade Mother-of-Pearl scales, deeply carved Sterling bolsters with Blue Sapphires captured in 18K gold bezels and a blade honed from Typhoon Damascus forged by Devin and Rob Thomas. The thumbstud and locking button are each set with an Australian Fire Opal.

The Doctor's or Physician's knife has become fairly common in today's selection of traditional folders. They are made primarily in the United States by Case®, Queen® and Canal Street®. But a Serpentine Doctor's knife is rare and is the most collectible of all the variations on the Doctor's knife pattern.

H. P. Klötzli created a very limited series of Christian Wimpff's striking Gentleman's Folder with scrimshawed images of the African Big Five on Wooly Mammoth Ivory scales exclusively for A. G. Russell and Russell's For Men . The Elephant is the last knife in the series. The signature of the scrimshaw artist, Atilla from Hungary, "1 of 25", and the year is cut into the front scale. The reverse scale is plain Ivory.

In Switzerland, the Klötzli name has been associated with quality cutlery for over 150 years. H. P. is the fifth generation Klötzli to manage this outstanding knife company. His knifemaker apprenticeship was spent with Victorinox, producer of the well known red Swiss Army Knife.

Each year the designers at Leatherman come up with yet another bigger and better multi-tool. One of the latest additions to their line is the Charge TTi. The Titanium handle houses a large bit driver, bottle/can opener, wood/metal & diamond-coated file, large screw driver, small bit driver, scissors, serrated knife blade/cutting hook and clip point blade.

The Gold-Lip Pearl Oyster is being cultured for white pearls in Australia, and recently in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and the Phillipines. The color of the pearl Lone Wolf has put on these one hundred knives is a deep rich gold, some of the most highly figured and striking I have seen.

Before this past year, I do not believe a knife was ever marked with the Wrangler® brand. We know the brand as one of the oldest manufacturers of blue jeans, good solid clothing produced for the western working man. Wrangler® Jeans were first made in the 1940s and were designed specifically for rodeo use. Sometime during the past year, the brand's owner licensed a new U. S. knife company to produce Wrangler® knives. At this point there are only a few models in the line. It will be interesting to see what becomes of this.

Spyderco® calls the SPIN a runt. Like many so called runts this one is a pretty tough cookie! Designed by Eric Glesser, who is an important part of the Spyderco engineering and design team, to be the smallest possible folder with the largest possible cutting edge. It is obvious that Eric has learned much from his father (Sal Glesser, founder of Spyderco), but it is equally obvious that he brings his own interpretation to knife design.

Limited to 600 pieces of each model, Series XIV is made up of six knives. Five have handle scales of an intense Crimson Rodgers Jigged Bone with sterling silver keystone shields, brass liners and nickel silver bolsters. The sixth is a Reverse Peanut with beautiful Presentation Grade Mother-of-Pearl.
